Oyo APC Says Reconciliation Effort Has Resolved Most Assembly Primary Disputes

The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress says it has reconciled most aspirants who contested its recent House of Assembly primaries and secured commitments from them to support the party in the 2027 elections.

The party’s House of Assembly Reconciliation Committee said extensive meetings were held with aspirants, stakeholders and members who raised concerns about the primary process.

The committee was chaired by Mufitau Adisa Gbayawu, with Abisoye Fagade as co-chairman and Rotimi Okeowo as secretary.

In a communique issued after the meetings, the committee said substantial progress had been made in addressing grievances across the state’s 32 constituencies.

It said most aspirants had accepted the need to place party unity above individual ambitions.

The reconciliation effort followed protests and complaints arising from the conduct and outcomes of the primaries.

The committee said its engagements were guided by reconciliation, mutual understanding and the wider electoral interests of the APC.

According to the party, reconciled aspirants pledged to work with candidates who emerged from the process.

They also pledged support for President Bola Tinubu’s reelection campaign and for APC candidates seeking Senate, House of Representatives and Oyo State House of Assembly seats.

The party said the exercise was intended to prevent post-primary grievances from developing into defections or internal sabotage.

The success of the reconciliation will become clearer as campaigning intensifies and aspirants decide whether to remain active within the party structure.
