England booked their place in the FIFA World Cup semi-finals after Jude Bellingham scored twice in a dramatic 2-1 extra-time victory over Norway.

The quarter-final encounter saw Thomas Tuchel’s side battle back from a goal down before Bellingham’s decisive strike in extra time sealed England’s place in the last four.

Norway took the lead in the 36th minute after goalkeeper Jordan Pickford misjudged Andreas Schjelderup’s cross-shot, allowing the ball to slip past him and into the net via the far post.

England responded just before halftime as Anthony Gordon set up Bellingham, who controlled the ball expertly before drilling a low finish beyond goalkeeper Orjan Nyland to restore parity.

Norway came close to regaining the advantage in the second half when Torbjørn Heggem found the net, but the goal was ruled out following a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review, which adjudged Erling Haaland to have committed a foul during the build-up.

The Scandinavian side continued to threaten, with Kristoffer Ajer striking the crossbar as England struggled to contain Norway’s attacking pressure.

However, Bellingham proved to be England’s hero once again, scoring the winner three minutes into extra time after Nyland failed to hold Morgan Rogers’ long-range effort. The Real Madrid midfielder reacted quickest to convert the rebound, registering his sixth goal of the tournament.

England were later awarded a penalty after Djed Spence was brought down inside the box, but the decision was overturned following another VAR review, denying captain Harry Kane the opportunity to increase the lead.

Despite late pressure from Norway, England defended resolutely to preserve their 2-1 advantage and secure a place in Wednesday’s semi-final.

The Three Lions will now face either Argentina or Switzerland for a place in the World Cup final.
