Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have killed two suspected terrorists and recovered an AK 47 rifle during an operation in Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The confrontation occurred on August 10 at Nwur Village while troops were attempting to recover a weapon allegedly hidden by a detained suspected bandit.
Military personnel had taken the suspect to the area after receiving information that a rifle had been concealed there.
As the troops approached the village, they came under attack from armed men.
The soldiers returned fire and killed two of the attackers during the exchange.
The detained suspect accompanying the troops was also killed during the confrontation.
No military personnel were injured.
Following the gun battle, troops searched the area and recovered an AK 47 rifle, one magazine and two rounds of 7.62 millimeter special ammunition.
The military said operations were continuing in the area to locate other suspected members of the criminal group who fled during the encounter.
The operation forms part of continuing security efforts aimed at dismantling armed groups operating across parts of Plateau State and neighboring areas.
