Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Response Team (IRT) have arrested Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, who allegedly paraded himself as the Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), in Osun State.

Adeyemi was apprehended following weeks of intelligence-led operations by security agencies investigating the activities of the purported federal agency.

The suspect, who had reportedly been on the radar of security operatives, was arrested without incident during a coordinated operation and has since been taken into police custody for further interrogation.

Confirming the development, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu, said the arrest was carried out by operatives of the Intelligence Response Team.

“He was arrested by the IRT and is currently in police custody for further investigation,” Iniedu told journalists in Abuja.

The arrest comes after an intensive manhunt launched by security agencies following allegations surrounding the activities of the self-styled organisation.

As part of the investigation, security operatives had earlier raided Adeyemi’s family residence while tracking his whereabouts. During the operation, investigators reportedly questioned members of his family in an effort to establish his location.

The police have yet to disclose the specific charges against the suspect but said investigations are ongoing.

Authorities are expected to provide further details on the case as the investigation progresses.
