Northern APC Support Group Launches Drive to Expand Tinubu’s 2027 Vote

A political support organization, Arewa For Asiwaju (A4A), has announced plans to intensify voter mobilization across northern Nigeria in support of President Bola Tinubu’s proposed re-election bid.

The group outlined its strategy during a visit to All Progressives Congress National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda at the party’s headquarters in Abuja. Its delegation was led by former Kano State governor Ibrahim Shekarau, chairman of its board of trustees.

Shekarau said A4A intended to increase the party’s vote total substantially across the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory. He attributed part of the organization’s strategy to an assessment of previous voting patterns, weak-turnout areas and declining electoral participation.

According to the group, it has established 20 operational directorates, appointed coordinators at state, local government and ward levels, and prepared campaign materials highlighting what it considers the administration’s achievements in the region. It also announced plans to commission a permanent secretariat, with Vice President Kashim Shettima expected to attend.

Former Plateau State governor Simon Lalong, deputy chairman of the group’s board, described its membership of experienced political officeholders as a reserve of campaign expertise available to the ruling party. He said northern participation would remain crucial to the presidential contest.

Yilwatda welcomed the delegation, praised what he described as its geographic and religious diversity, and pledged cooperation between the APC and A4A. He also urged members to support the party’s candidates in legislative and governorship elections, rather than concentrating solely on the presidency.

The group’s ambition to triple previous northern votes is a campaign target, not a projection independently established by electoral data. Its effectiveness will ultimately depend on participation, party organization, and voter choices in 2027.
