Arsenal Fans Club Nigeria Announces Abuja Launch with Community Engagement Focus

Arsenal Fans Club Nigeria has announced plans for its official launch in Abuja, combining football activities, community service and the formal unveiling of the supporters’ organization. The event, scheduled for October 16 and 17, 2026, will bring together Arsenal supporters from across Nigeria as the organization seeks to strengthen the club’s fan community and promote social responsibility beyond football.

In a statement issued on October 12, National President Charles Ojugbana said the initiative was designed to create a more organized and engaging platform for Nigerian supporters of the English Premier League club. Ojugbana explained that the organization draws inspiration from the achievements of footballers of Nigerian descent who have represented Arsenal, including Nwankwo Kanu, Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze. According to him, the accomplishments of these players provide an opportunity to deepen supporters’ connection with Arsenal while encouraging greater participation in activities that benefit society.

The programme will begin on Friday, October 16, with the organization’s second Annual General Meeting, bringing together delegates from its state and city chapters across Nigeria. Activities will continue on Saturday, October 17, with aerobic exercises and a novelty football match aimed at promoting fitness, friendship and interaction among members. A major highlight of the celebration will be a community sanitation initiative at Wuse Market in Abuja, where the organization plans to donate industrial refuse bins and other sanitation materials to the market union.

Ojugbana said the outreach reflects the club’s commitment to charitable activities, particularly initiatives intended to support vulnerable and disadvantaged members of society. The two day programme will culminate in the official unveiling of Arsenal Fans Club Nigeria at an event expected to attract prominent personalities from business, politics, entertainment and sports. Among those listed by the organizers as expected guests are former Senate President Bukola Saraki, former Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II, former Senator Dino Melaye and former Arsenal striker Nwankwo Kanu.

Arsenal Fans Club Nigeria intends to establish a sustainable structure for coordinating supporters’ activities across the country. According to the statement, the organisation operates through a Board of Trustees, a National Executive Committee and a General Assembly, which serves as its highest decision making body. It also maintains a digital membership database to support administration and coordination among members. Looking ahead, the club disclosed plans to undertake a public awareness initiative on Down syndrome in March 2027, as part of its broader commitment to community engagement and social inclusion. The proposed campaign is expected to coincide with activities marking World Down Syndrome Day.

The Abuja launch is intended to position Arsenal Fans Club Nigeria as both a supporters’ organization and a platform for community development, bringing football enthusiasts together through their shared interest in Arsenal while encouraging charitable service and public participation.
