Niger APC Mobilization Team Sets Polling-Unit Targets for 2027

An All Progressives Congress grassroots mobilization structure has been inaugurated in Niger State with a mandate to campaign for President Bola Tinubu, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago and the party’s candidates in the 2027 elections.

The 28-member movement includes coordinators assigned to the state’s three senatorial districts and 25 local government areas, according to the account of the inauguration in Minna.

North-Central zonal coordinator Ibrahim Khaleel Aliyu asked the appointees to establish working teams at ward and polling-unit levels and conduct direct voter outreach rather than rely on political gatherings in the state capital.

Aliyu set a target of at least 500 votes per polling unit for APC candidates, describing the objective as a campaign benchmark. The target is an aspiration, not a projection of actual voter turnout or legally available votes at every unit.

He also urged party members opposing Tinubu or Bago to reconsider their positions and warned against covert support for opposition candidates. His comments reflected an internal campaign stance amid competition for party loyalty.

Yusuf Tagwai, a political adviser to Governor Bago, characterized the coming contest as one fought with voter cards rather than weapons and called on members to organize from the polling unit upward.

The inauguration signals an early effort to translate incumbency and party structures into electoral mobilization. Its success will depend on voter persuasion, candidate appeal and compliance with electoral rules, including the need to avoid coercion or intimidation.
