Niger Delta Youth Forum Backs Ojulari, Urges Tinubu to Protect NNPC Reforms

The Niger Delta Ethnic Nationalities Youth Leaders Forum has urged President Bola Tinubu to resist pressure for the removal of NNPC Limited Group Chief Executive Officer Bashir Ojulari.

The group said allegations surrounding security-related expenditures should be examined through appropriate statutory processes rather than public pressure or media campaigns.

It argued that strategic national institutions required stability, professionalism and continuity to implement difficult reforms.

According to the forum, Ojulari had shown commitment to repositioning NNPC as a more commercially focused and performance-oriented energy company.

The group described him as an experienced petroleum industry professional whose technical background could support the transformation of the national oil company.

It warned that repeated leadership disruptions could damage investor confidence and slow reforms in a sector central to Nigeria’s economy.

The forum said accountability remained important but insisted that allegations should be separated from established facts and investigated through due process.

It also reiterated Niger Delta demands for transparency, higher production, stronger community engagement, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.

The group urged Tinubu to allow the NNPC leadership sufficient time to pursue reforms aimed at improving efficiency, governance, profitability and national economic value.
