Netflix Renews Crime Drama Nemesis for Second Season

Netflix has renewed its hit crime drama Nemesis for a second season after the series enjoyed a strong global debut, cementing its place among the streaming platform’s most-watched English-language television shows.

The series, which premiered in May, spent five consecutive weeks in Netflix’s Global Top 10 English-language TV rankings and reached the number one spot during its second week, prompting the streaming giant to greenlight another season.

Confirming the renewal, co-creator and executive producer Tani Marole said the new season would delve deeper into the story while providing answers to many of the unresolved questions from the first installment.

“We’re very grateful to have it,” Marole said. “We’re going to make sure those questions get answered—and even more questions are available for you to answer. Make no mistakes, season two is going to be bigger and better.”

The series features a star-studded cast led by Matthew Law and Y’lan Noel, alongside Cleopatra Coleman, Tre Hale, Domenick Lombardozzi, Jonnie Park, Ariana Guerra, Gabrielle Dennis, Michael Potts, Sophina Brown, Cedric Joe and Jeff Pierre. The first season also included guest appearances by Moe Irvin, Quincy Isaiah, Jay Reeves, Mike O’Malley, Stephanie Sigman, Khalilah Joi, Shane Johnson, Siua Ikale’o, Dawnn Lewis, Mark Feuerstein and Chris Bauer.

Showrunner, creator and executive producer Courtney A. Kemp credited the show’s loyal fan base for securing a second season, expressing appreciation for the overwhelming audience support.

“I feel blessed to get a season two. We thank the fans because it’s because of them—there’s no other reason. It’s them showing up, talking about the show and their huge response on social media. We’re grateful to Netflix for recognising the power of our audience and bringing us back for the fans,” Kemp said.

According to Netflix, Nemesis follows the gripping cat-and-mouse pursuit between a brilliant criminal and a determined police detective, while exploring themes of crime, family, marriage and personal identity.

Netflix’s Vice President of Studio Scripted Series for the United States and Canada (UCAN), Nne Ebong, described the show’s global success as remarkable and praised its creators for delivering a compelling story.

“Courtney and Tani have built something truly special with Nemesis—a show that captivated audiences and never let go,” Ebong said. “The global response has been extraordinary, and we’re excited to continue this journey with them in Season Two.”

Production details and an official release date for the second season have yet to be announced.
