Grammy-winning Nigerian Afrobeats star, Wizkid, is set to headline the opening night of the 2026 Detty December Fest in Lagos, organisers have announced.

The singer is scheduled to perform on December 18, marking the beginning of the 13-day festival, which will run through December 30 and feature music, culture, food, fashion and entertainment.

The festival, produced by entertainment company Livespot360, will introduce a second performance stage this year as part of efforts to expand its programme and create more opportunities for emerging African artistes.

Wizkid will headline the main Festival Stage, while the newly introduced Pulse Stage will provide a platform for emerging artistes, new sounds and rising talents across the African music scene.

Livespot360 co-founder and Chief Creative Officer, Darey Art Alade, said the new stage was introduced in recognition of the growing global influence of African music.

“African music has never been more influential globally, and we believe our festivals should reflect that ambition,” Alade said.

He said the Pulse Stage would give young artistes an opportunity to share the spotlight with established performers while building connections within the industry.

“The introduction of the Pulse Stage is particularly exciting because it gives the next generation of artists a platform to perform alongside some of the biggest names in music. That’s how ecosystems grow,” he added.

The 2026 edition is expected to combine performances by established stars with showcases of emerging talent, as organisers seek to highlight the diversity and growing international influence of Africa’s entertainment industry.

Wizkid’s performance is expected to be one of the major attractions of the opening night, further positioning the festival as a key feature of Lagos’ annual December entertainment calendar.
