A group of 15 prominent All Progressives Congress leaders in Kwara State has warned the party’s national leadership that internal disputes could undermine its prospects in the 2027 elections.
The group, known as the G-15, demanded greater transparency, fairness and equity in appointments and candidate selection.
Its members include former ministers, serving and former lawmakers, party chieftains and grassroots organisers.
In a communiqué read by former senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe, the group rejected what it described as exclusion, imposition and excessive control by a single political interest.
It called for statewide consultations with party members, youths and women across all 16 local government areas.
The group also demanded a transparent selection process for 2027 candidates and a return to what it described as the original principles of consultation and inclusiveness that shaped the APC’s rise in Kwara.
The G-15 accused Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of moving away from the ideals of the 2019 Otó gé political movement and warned that opposition parties could benefit from unresolved divisions.
It said party unity and electoral success could no longer be taken for granted if current concerns were ignored. Despite its criticism, the group urged supporters to remain calm and disciplined and said it remained open to legitimate political options in defence of members’
