Kaduna Governor, Chief Justice Emphasize Staff Welfare at Judiciary Sports Event

Speakers say fitness, discipline and teamwork can support more effective justice administration.

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani and Chief Justice of Nigeria Kudirat Kekere-Ekun have stressed the importance of physical and mental well-being for judicial officers and court employees.

Their messages were delivered at the opening of the 32nd Annual Judiciary Sports Competition organized by the National Sports Association of Judiciary in Kaduna.

Represented by Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice James Kanyip, Sani said the effectiveness of courts depends not only on laws and infrastructure but also on the competence, integrity and health of the people who operate the justice system.

He described sporting events as opportunities to strengthen professional relationships and reinforce values such as fairness, discipline, teamwork and respect for rules. The governor also welcomed Kaduna’s role as host of the national competition.

The Chief Justice, represented by Kaduna State Chief Judge Mohammed Tukur Muazu, said the demands of judicial work require concentration, patience and sustained effort. Regular recreation and physical activity, she noted, could help personnel manage stress and maintain the balance needed for their responsibilities.

She commended the organizers for sustaining the competition and encouraged participants to compete fairly. NASAJ president Noah Sunday also acknowledged the support of the judiciary’s leadership.

The event placed staff welfare alongside the broader conversation about judicial performance, although no new funding or institutional welfare policy was announced in the supplied report.
