Zeetin Technologies says locally assembled vehicles will serve traders, farmers and commuters, with plans to deepen Nigerian content.
Former President Goodluck Jonathan is scheduled to unveil a tricycle assembly facility operated by Zeetin Technologies in Abuja on Wednesday, October 21, according to a statement issued by the company.
The plant, located in the Idu Industrial Area, assembles VZ150 and VZ200 tricycles in technical partnership with Indonesia’s VIAR Motor. Zeetin says the venture is designed to make commercial transport more accessible to small businesses and create local manufacturing and servicing opportunities.
Company chairman Robert Azibaola said tricycles remain important to market traders, farmers moving produce, artisans, distributors and commuters. He explained that the plant would draw on Nigerian technical, sales, planning and after-sales personnel, including workers who received training at VIAR’s facilities in Semarang.
According to the company, the first vehicles assembled at the factory will be handed over to their owners during the launch ceremony. Zeetin also outlined longer-term ambitions to source more components locally and explore compressed natural gas and electric-powered models.
The proposed expansion would require a dependable local supply chain, adequate technical support and competitive pricing. The company has not disclosed in the supplied statement the factory’s annual production capacity, total investment or projected employment figures.
The planned inauguration adds to efforts by domestic manufacturers to move beyond importing finished vehicles. Its economic significance will depend on sustained output, component localization and whether buyers can obtain reliable maintenance and spare parts.
