Imo LIFE ND Project Begins Training 200 New Agribusiness Participants

The Livelihood Improvement Family Enterprises Niger Delta project in Imo State has begun training 200 participants in a new round of agribusiness development intended to support youth and women’s economic opportunities.

An orientation programme took place in Owerri on October 30, 2026. State project coordinator Victoria Igboanugo said the fourth batch would receive guidance on practical enterprise management, climate awareness, nutrition, record keeping, technology and inclusive business practices.

According to Igboanugo, 200 trainees were selected electronically from 1,021 applicants. She said 1,403 people had participated in the first three batches and urged the new group to approach the training with discipline and a willingness to learn.

The project relies on mentors, described as incubators, to provide practical instruction and support to trainees as they develop agricultural businesses. The Niger Delta Development Commission said its participation was intended to expand livelihoods and improve food security in the region.

State officials and beneficiaries welcomed the initiative. The project’s impact will depend on training completion, access to productive assets, business survival and incomes after participants leave the programme, rather than enrolment figures alone.
