FG Charges Actress Ogala With Cyberstalking Pastor

The federal government has initiated criminal proceedings against Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, charging her with cyberstalking, false publication, and attempted extortion in connection with allegations involving cleric Chris Okafor.

Court documents show the charges were filed at the Federal High Court in Lagos in Charge No. FHC/L/220C/2026, and are pending before Justice Aluko. The Directorate of Public Prosecutions of the Federation confirmed that the charges followed a review of police investigation findings and the issuance of formal legal advice by the office.

The prosecution filed four counts against Ogala under the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Amendment Act, 2024.

The first count alleged that between September 2024 and March 2026, Ogala knowingly published intimate photographs of Okafor on social media without his consent, with the materials said to be capable of causing embarrassment, emotional distress, and significant reputational harm.

The second count accused her of publishing messages, images, and video recordings containing allegations that Okafor had committed rape against his wife, engaged in ritual practices, and was responsible for the death of another individual. The prosecution characterised these claims as false and made with intent to cause insult, intimidation, and reputational damage.

The third count alleged that Ogala intentionally disseminated false electronic messages and video recordings through computer systems and networks with the aim of bullying, threatening, and harassing the cleric, with the materials widely circulated across blogs and social media platforms.

The fourth count concerned alleged attempted extortion, with the prosecution claiming that Ogala threatened to continue publishing damaging intimate content about Okafor unless she received financial compensation or was provided with a house. The prosecution said the threats were designed to harm the cleric’s reputation and expose him to public ridicule.

The case was scheduled for arraignment, at which point the charges would be formally read and the defendant required to enter her plea. Ogala was on administrative bail at the time of filing.
