Country music icon Dolly Parton has announced the cancellation of her planned Las Vegas concert series, citing ongoing health issues that have prevented her from returning to the stage.
The 80-year-old singer shared the update in videos posted to her social media accounts on Monday, explaining that while her treatment is progressing well, she is not yet fit for live performances.
“The good news is I’m responding really well to meds and treatments, and I’m improving every day now,” she said, adding that it would take time before she regains the strength needed for stage performances.
Parton, best known for her hit 9 to 5, revealed that some of the medications she is currently taking have caused side effects, including dizziness and light-headedness, making it unsafe for her to perform.
“I can’t be dizzy carrying around banjos, guitars and such, on five-inch heels,” she joked, referencing her signature high-energy performances and elaborate costumes.
The Las Vegas residency had previously been postponed and was originally scheduled to begin last year.
According to the singer, her doctors are focused on improving her immune and digestive systems, and have assured her that her condition is treatable.
Parton also took a moment to thank fans for their continued support, especially following recent concerns about her health. Last year, she addressed speculation with a lighthearted message to fans titled “I ain’t dead yet!”
Despite the setback, the music legend said she remains active with other projects, including a new museum and hotel set to open in Nashville, Tennessee, USA later this year, as well as work on a Broadway musical.
Parton’s announcement comes as fans continue to rally around the beloved performer, widely regarded as one of the most enduring figures in country music.
