Former Kogi West Senator Dino Melaye says he intends to challenge in court the appointment of Nigeria Revenue Service Chairman Zacch Adedeji to President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.
Melaye, a member of the African Democratic Congress, questioned Adedeji’s designation as Deputy Director of Fundraising.
He argued that the position could create a conflict between Adedeji’s responsibilities as head of the federal revenue agency and his participation in political campaign fundraising.
Melaye said he would ask the court to examine whether the appointment was consistent with public service rules and ethical obligations applying to holders of public office.
No court had ruled on the issue in the source material, and Melaye’s argument remains a proposed legal challenge rather than an established finding of wrongdoing.
The former senator also criticised Tinubu’s decision to serve as chairman of his own Presidential Campaign Council.
He described the arrangement as unusual and questioned whether it reflected confidence in other members of the ruling party.
The APC campaign structure lists Tinubu as chairman, Vice President Kashim Shettima as Vice Chairman I and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda as Vice Chairman II.
Former Zamfara Governor Abdulaziz Yari was appointed Director General, while Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma was named Secretary.
Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun was named Director of Fundraising, with Adedeji serving as his deputy.
Melaye said his planned legal action was part of a broader effort to challenge arrangements he considered inconsistent with good governance and public accountability.
The dispute adds a legal and ethical dimension to the emerging 2027 campaign before formal election activities intensify.
