The Allied Peoples’ Movement has criticised the composition of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, describing the list as dominated by political loyalists who, in the party’s view, lack broad public credibility.
In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, the opposition party argued that the campaign structure reflected what it considered the administration’s poor performance and inability to attract respected independent voices.
APM singled out former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari, who was named Director General of the campaign council, and questioned his record in office.
The party also made wide ranging claims about insecurity, unemployment, poverty and infrastructure under the Tinubu administration.
Those figures and allegations were presented as partisan claims by the APM and were not independently verified in the source material.
The opposition party said the composition of the council showed, in its assessment, that the President would struggle to mobilise Nigerians beyond established political loyalists.
It also cited the recent Osun governorship election as evidence that electoral support for the ruling party could not be taken for granted ahead of 2027.
APM urged voters to judge the administration by economic conditions, security outcomes and the effect of government policies on households and productive sectors.
The statement forms part of an increasingly aggressive opposition campaign as political parties position themselves for the January 2027 presidential election.
The APC, which has already announced the leadership of its campaign council, has maintained that President Tinubu’s record of economic reform and infrastructure development will form the core of its reelection argument.
