Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Amaechi announced on Wednesday that he had submitted his presidential nomination forms at the ADC Secretariat, formally joining the race for the party’s ticket ahead of the next general election.
According to the former Rivers State governor, his presidential ambition is driven by a commitment to restoring national unity, economic prosperity, and Nigeria’s global reputation.
“The mission is clear, we will fight to restore dignity to Nigerians, make our country great and respected in the comity of nations, and bring unity, peace, prosperity and progress to our people,” Amaechi stated.
He said his campaign would focus on rebuilding public confidence in governance and addressing the country’s political and economic challenges.
Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State and ex-chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, is one of the prominent political figures positioning ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
His declaration adds to the growing list of aspirants seeking to emerge as candidates of various political parties as political activities gradually intensify across the country.
