Makinde Declares 2027 Presidential Ambition Under PDP-APM Alliance

Seyi Makinde has officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election under a political alliance involving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

The Oyo State governor made the announcement during a political rally held at Mapo Hall in Ibadan amid ongoing political realignments within factions of the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“I, Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, Excellency, announce my candidacy for the position of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the governor declared at the rally.

The declaration followed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Taminu Turaki faction of the PDP in Oyo State and the APM as part of a strategic alliance for the 2027 elections.

Makinde and the National Chairman of the APM, Yusuf Dantalle, signed the agreement on behalf of both parties.

Under the arrangement, candidates aligned with the PDP faction in Oyo State seeking elective offices, including governorship, Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly seats, are expected to contest on the platform of the APM instead of the PDP during the 2027 elections.

The development signals a major political shift within Oyo State and adds to the growing wave of alliances and repositioning among political actors ahead of the next presidential election.
