The campaign organization for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has claimed that the administration reduced the state’s domestic debt profile from N148 billion in December 2022 to N83.32 billion by the first quarter of 2025, presenting the figure alongside other financial metrics as evidence of improved fiscal management ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
Director-General of the Imole Campaign Council, Senator Kamorudeen Oyewumi, made the claim at the opening of the campaign’s media coordination center, adding that the state’s external debt was also reduced and that internally generated revenue had grown from N24.47 billion in 2022 to N58.7 billion in 2025, representing a 139.89 percent increase.
Oyewumi said the council had also cleared 18 months of an inherited 30-month salary backlog and fully retired a 28-month contributory pension arrears owed to retirees by previous administrations.
He cited a range of infrastructure projects including the first flyover in Ile-Ife, dual carriageway construction in multiple Osun cities, and what he described as over 300 kilometers of urban and rural roads constructed across all local governments.
The senator said the council would not be drawn into what he described as the negative and mundane campaign tactics being adopted by the APC, arguing that the administration’s performance record provided a sufficient and compelling basis for seeking renewed public support.
