The African Democratic Congress has unveiled its governorship and deputy governorship candidates in 28 states ahead of the February 6, 2027 governorship elections.
The party said the candidates would represent its effort to present what it described as a credible alternative to voters across the country.
Among the more prominent names are Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour in Lagos, Isa Mohammed Ashiru in Kaduna, former Attorney-General of the Federation Abubakar Malami in Kebbi, Great Ogboru in Delta and Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita in Katsina.
Other notable candidates include Senator Halliru Dauda Jika in Bauchi, former House of Representatives member Herman Iorwase Hembe in Benue, Zakari Mohammed in Kwara and retired Brigadier General John Sunday Sura in Plateau.
In Lagos, Rhodes-Vivour will run with Gbadamosi Babatunde Olalere, while Ashiru will contest in Kaduna with Kantiok Irmiya Ishaku.
Ogboru is paired with Afiari Gloria in Delta, Kaita will contest in Katsina with Aminu Yar’Adua Ahmed, while Malami will run in Kebbi with Zagi Musa Mohammed.
The ADC also announced tickets in Abia, Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Borno, Cross River, Ebonyi, Enugu, Gombe, Jigawa, Kano, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Oyo, Rivers, Sokoto, Taraba, Yobe and Zamfara.
The full tickets announced are: Abia, Kalu Kalu Agu and Alozie Ogidimma Darlington; Adamawa, Modibbo Hammantukur Ribadu and Aguwa Kevin Iliya; Akwa Ibom, Akpanudoedehe John James and Nsien Mkpombuk Tommy; Bauchi, Halliru Dauda Jika and Sama’ila Mohammed Kabir; Benue, Herman Iorwase Hembe and Abba John Abba; Borno, Babagana Buhari and Mamman Dauda; Cross River, Nkoyo Toyo and Okwoche Andrew Adagbor.
Delta has Great Ogboru and Afiari Gloria; Ebonyi, Ukpai Mba Udeh and Onwe Daniel Ede; Enugu, Ocho Obodoze Chukwuma and Eze Arinze Christopher; Gombe, Bala Bello and Bala Sani Isa; Jigawa, Sabo Mohammed Nakudu and Musa Ya’u Balarabe; Kaduna, Isa Mohammed Ashiru and Kantiok Irmiya Ishaku; Kano, Ibrahim Ali Amin and Shehu Abdulkadir Bari.
Katsina has Ahmad Babba Kaita and Aminu Yar’Adua Ahmed; Kebbi, Abubakar Malami and Zagi Musa Mohammed; Kwara, Zakari Mohammed and Olawuyi Julius Olayide; Lagos, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and Gbadamosi Babatunde Olalere; Nasarawa, Nuhu Angbazo and Ahmed Yusuf; Niger, Mohammed Kpautagi and Musa Mamman.
Ogun has Biodun Collins Ogundipe and Muraina Oluwaranti Oluyemi; Oyo, Taofeek Adegboyega Adegoke and Wahab Adeniyi; Plateau, John Sunday Sura and Pwajok-Kele Chundung Bitrus; Rivers, Gabriel Pidomson and Okumgba David Amapakaye; Sokoto, Manir Mohammad Daniya and Isah Bello Ambarura; Taraba, Abubakar Umar Tutare and Kwetishe Haruna Kwenyan; Yobe, Kassim G. Gaidam and Kori Lawan Mohammed; Zamfara, Shinkafi Bilyaminu Yusuf and Muhammad Abdulmuddalib Auwal.
Governorship campaigns are scheduled to begin on September 9, 2026.
The announcement gives the ADC a clearer state-level electoral structure as the party expands preparations for the 2027 general elections.
