Leaders of the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign have said they intend to seek another mandate for President Bola Tinubu by emphasizing the administration’s record rather than personal attacks on opposition candidates.
Campaign Council Director-General Abdulaziz Yari made the pledge after a meeting with the President alongside APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda. Yari said the party would present its policies and programmes to voters and argue that continuity was necessary.
Yilwatda said preparations had been completed for the planned campaign launch in Kaduna on October 24. He also claimed that figures or groups associated with the Peoples Democratic Party, All Progressives Grand Alliance and Accord were supporting Tinubu’s re-election bid.
The party chairman did not specify whether those claims referred to formal decisions by the national leadership of the named parties or support from individual politicians and factions. They should therefore not be treated as confirmed party-wide endorsements.
The campaign leadership said state structures and committees had been mobilized for the launch. The election campaign will unfold amid competing assessments of the government’s performance on the economy, security and public services.
