Oshiomhole Dismisses APC Campaign Disputes, Defends Tinubu’s Political Strategy

Senator Adams Oshiomhole has played down reported disagreements within the All Progressives Congress and its allied political groups, insisting that the shared objective of supporting President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid outweighs disputes over campaign appointments.

Speaking on Arise Television, the former Edo State governor said grassroots mobilization should be measured by results in polling units and wards rather than the titles held by campaign officials. He argued that parties supporting Tinubu at the presidential level could still contest legislative and state elections independently.

Oshiomhole cited Anambra Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s reported support for Tinubu as an example of cooperation across party lines. He also defended the president’s decision to limit campaign rallies, saying party structures could campaign nationwide without the candidate appearing at every location.

On the administration’s proposed $22 billion external borrowing programme, he said the Senate committee responsible for debt matters would review the projects and financing purposes before deliberation. Borrowing, he argued, should be assessed by whether the money finances productive investments capable of supporting repayment.

He also called for international cooperation to combat human trafficking, arguing that destination countries must address demand and exploitation alongside enforcement against trafficking networks. His comments were political and policy arguments rather than findings that the borrowing proposal or anti-trafficking approach had already succeeded.
