Trump Undergoes Annual Medical Examination Ahead of 80th Birthday

Donald Trump underwent his annual medical examination on Tuesday at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, just days before his 80th birthday.

The medical check-up comes amid renewed public attention surrounding Trump’s health and fitness while serving as president.

Trump, who became the oldest person ever inaugurated as US president, has frequently highlighted his physical and mental stamina, often contrasting himself with former President Joe Biden.

According to reports, Trump arrived at the military hospital near Washington at approximately 8:50 a.m. local time before returning to the White House later in the day for a policy meeting focused on the ongoing Iran conflict.

The White House traditionally releases a summary of presidential medical examinations, although the level of detail disclosed remains at its discretion.

Trump is expected to turn 80 on June 14, with celebrations reportedly coinciding with a planned UFC event on the White House lawn expected to attract thousands of spectators.

The president has faced persistent scrutiny over the transparency of his medical history and health disclosures.

Last year, Trump underwent two medical evaluations, including a scheduled examination in April and an unscheduled hospital visit in October that fuelled speculation about his condition.

During the summer, the White House confirmed that Trump had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a condition affecting blood circulation in the veins and often associated with swelling and discomfort in the legs.

The disclosure followed repeated public appearances in which the president appeared to have swollen ankles.

Trump has also frequently appeared with bruising on his right hand since returning to office in 2025, though the White House attributed the marks to aspirin use as part of a routine cardiovascular treatment plan.

Following his October examination, Trump said an MRI scan showed his cardiovascular condition was “excellent.”

In a medical report released at the time, White House physician Sean Barbabella stated that Trump’s cardiac age was assessed to be approximately 14 years younger than his actual age.
