Representatives of the Dangote Group have visited the Ode Omi community in Ogun State as part of ongoing consultations ahead of a proposed deep seaport project along the state’s coastline.
The sensitisation visit was led by the company’s Managing Director for Infrastructure and Logistics, Jamil Abubakar, and hosted by the traditional ruler of the community, Folailu Adekunle Hassan.
According to the company, the engagement was aimed at strengthening dialogue with host communities and promoting collaboration ahead of the commencement of the large-scale infrastructure project.
Officials of the Dangote Group highlighted the potential economic benefits of the proposed deep seaport, describing it as a major development expected to stimulate trade, logistics, industrial growth and employment opportunities in Ogun State and beyond.
The company noted that the project could also support broader regional development through improved maritime infrastructure and increased commercial activities along the coastal corridor.
Community leaders and residents reportedly welcomed the initiative, expressing optimism about the prospects for economic growth and improved livelihoods linked to the project.
The visit underscored the importance of community participation and stakeholder engagement in major infrastructure developments, with both parties emphasising the need for sustained cooperation and long-term planning.
