Yusuf Buhari Clears Screening for House of Representatives Bid

Yusuf Buhari has announced his successful completion of the screening process ahead of his bid to contest for a seat in Nigeria’s House of Representatives, representing the Daura, Sandamu and Mai’Adua Federal Constituency.

The son of Nigeria’s late former president, Muhammadu Buhari, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, describing the screening exercise as rigorous and significant in his political journey.

Yusuf Buhari expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah, his family, friends, and supporters for their encouragement and prayers throughout the process.

“Today, I successfully went through a rigorous screening process as part of the journey towards contesting for the position of Member, House of Representatives, representing Daura, Sandamu and Mai’Adua Federal Constituency,” he said.

He added that he remained committed to serving the people with humility, dedication, and a sense of responsibility.

The development marks Yusuf Buhari’s formal entry into active politics following the passing of his father, former President Muhammadu Buhari, who remained one of Nigeria’s most influential political figures and served as the country’s civilian president from 2015 to 2023.

Political observers say Yusuf Buhari’s emergence could attract significant attention in Katsina State, particularly in the Daura axis, which is widely regarded as the political base of the Buhari family.

Supporters of the young aspirant have described his ambition as a continuation of the Buhari political legacy, while others say his candidacy will test his ability to build an independent political identity beyond his father’s influence.
