Katsina State Police operatives have arrested a 20-year-old woman following the death of her 97-year-old paternal grandmother from injuries sustained during a domestic altercation in Daura Local Government Area, with the suspect having confessed to the offence after being taken into custody.
The Katsina State Police Command said the incident occurred on June 12 at approximately 7 p.m. when a quarrel between the suspect, Aisha Muktar Hassan, and the elderly woman, Hajiya Ummukhulsum Hassan, turned violent. The suspect’s father, Muktar Muhammad Hassan, reported the incident to Sabon Garin Daura Police Station at about 8 p.m. Police operatives who responded found the victim unconscious and bleeding at her residence, and she was evacuated to hospital where she was confirmed dead by the attending doctor.
The command said the suspect was arrested during the investigation and made a confession, and that she remained in custody pending the conclusion of the investigation and her formal arraignment.
