Governor Hope Uzodimma has approved a grand reception for Imo State students following their standout performance at the International STEM Olympiad in Rome, where 11 year old Onyedikachi Egejurum won gold and finished as the world’s best in mathematics at the primary category level, while Don Anele Munachisom took gold in science at the secondary category level.
The two were among three Nigerian students who won gold at the Rome competition, having first emerged as top performers at the South East edition before education advocate and Educare CEO Alex Onyia sponsored them for the international stage. In a congratulatory message, Uzodimma commended the students for making the state proud, saying their performance reflects the substantial investment his government has made across every tier of education, from primary through secondary to tertiary, and that seeing those investments bear fruit brings genuine satisfaction. He praised those who identified, encouraged and sponsored the students for the Rome Olympiad as patriots and partners in the state’s educational advancement, announced the grand reception as part of a broader government strategy to encourage and develop more talent across Imo State, and reaffirmed his commitment to the infrastructural and academic renewal of the state’s education sector.
