Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko has resigned as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy unveiled a fresh cabinet reshuffle aimed at injecting new momentum into his administration amid the country’s ongoing war with Russia.
Announcing the development on Sunday, Zelenskyy said he had offered Svyrydenko a “new and important position,” although he did not immediately disclose details of the role.
The government shake-up comes as Ukraine continues to grapple with the challenges of the prolonged conflict, with Zelenskyy periodically restructuring his administration to improve governance and strengthen the country’s wartime response. The Ukrainian president has remained in office under martial law, which prohibits the conduct of national elections during wartime.
Svyrydenko, who previously served as Ukraine’s Minister of Economy, was appointed prime minister in July 2025 at the age of 39. She gained international recognition for leading negotiations that resulted in a strategic minerals agreement between Ukraine and the United States, an accord widely viewed as strengthening Washington’s long-term commitment to Ukraine’s security and economic recovery.
In a statement posted on social media, the outgoing prime minister described her tenure as one of the greatest honours of her career.
“I am proud to have had the honor of leading the government during one of the most difficult periods in Ukraine’s modern history,” she wrote.
Svyrydenko also disclosed that she had held discussions with President Zelenskyy on the next phase of her service to the country but did not elaborate on the outcome.
“I remain ready to serve the Ukrainian state and carry out every task aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s position, defending our national interests and bringing a just peace closer,” she added.
The latest reshuffle is expected to form part of Ukraine’s broader efforts to strengthen governance and sustain international support as the war with Russia continues.
