Trump Says Iran Requested Meeting in Doha as Tehran Denies Planned Talks

US President Donald Trump said on Monday that Iran had requested a meeting with the United States, which he said is scheduled to take place in Doha, Qatar, on Tuesday.

Trump made the announcement in a post on his Truth Social platform, writing in capital letters: “IRAN HAS REQUESTED A MEETING. IT WILL TAKE PLACE TOMORROW IN DOHA!”

The president’s statement came despite an earlier denial by Iran that any talks with the United States had been scheduled.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Monday rejected reports that Iranian and American technical teams would meet this week to discuss the implementation of an agreement aimed at ending the Middle East conflict.

The ministry insisted that reports of a planned meeting were inaccurate, creating uncertainty over whether the discussions announced by Trump will proceed.

The conflicting statements underscore the fragile state of diplomatic engagement between Washington and Tehran, even as efforts continue to ease regional tensions following the recently announced agreement to end hostilities in the Middle East.

Neither the White House nor Qatari authorities had released additional details about the proposed meeting as of Monday.
