Trump Reportedly Seeks Tougher Terms in Proposed Iran War Deal — US Media

President Donald Trump has reportedly pushed for stricter conditions in a proposed agreement aimed at ending the ongoing Middle East conflict, according to US media reports.

The New York Times reported on Saturday that Trump made changes to the draft framework of the deal, tightening several provisions before sending it back for further consideration by Iran. The report cited officials familiar with the negotiations.

Although the exact details of the revisions were not immediately disclosed, Axios reported that Trump sought to reinforce key elements he considered critical, including provisions relating to Iran’s nuclear materials.

The proposed adjustments are expected to potentially extend already fragile negotiations by several days as both sides reassess the revised framework.

The developments come as efforts to secure a final agreement remain stalled, despite earlier indications that a deal was close to completion pending Trump’s approval. US sources had told AFP that the proposal was awaiting a final decision following a White House Situation Room meeting on Friday, but no conclusion was reached.

The conflict, which erupted after joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28, has continued to drive instability across the Middle East.

Trump has repeatedly stated that any agreement must ensure Iran never develops nuclear weapons and must include the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route that carries about 20 percent of the world’s oil supply.

Negotiations are expected to continue as mediators attempt to bridge remaining gaps between Washington and Tehran over the terms of a possible ceasefire and long-term peace framework.
