Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has met with the families of pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area, assuring them that the state government is making every effort to secure the safe release of the victims.
The governor visited the community on Saturday, nearly two weeks after the abduction, to engage directly with relatives of those held captive and provide updates on ongoing rescue efforts.
Speaking during the visit, Makinde said the government remained committed to ensuring the victims were reunited with their families and pledged that all available resources were being deployed to achieve that objective.
According to the governor, security agencies and relevant authorities are working tirelessly to secure the release of the abducted children and teachers.
“After listening to the family members, I assured them that we are doing everything humanly possible to ensure the safe return of those who were kidnapped, and by the grace of God, they will be reunited with their loved ones very soon,” Makinde said.
The governor’s visit comes amid growing concern among residents and families over the fate of the abductees, who were taken during attacks on schools in Oriire Local Government Area earlier this month.
Makinde reiterated his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state, urging residents to remain calm and continue supporting security agencies with credible information that could aid rescue operations.
The state government has previously stated that both kinetic and non-kinetic measures are being employed in the ongoing efforts to secure the victims’ freedom.
Families of the abducted pupils and teachers expressed appreciation for the governor’s visit and renewed assurances, while calling for sustained action to ensure the safe return of their loved ones.
