Troops Rescue Wife of Late Major General Rabe Abubakar from Bandits

Troops of the Nigerian Army, supported by the Nigerian Air Force, have rescued Mrs Amina Abubakar, wife of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar, former Director of Defence Information, who was abducted alongside her husband by bandits several weeks ago.

According to military authorities, the rescue followed intensified search-and-rescue operations conducted by troops of Operation FASAN YAMMA. Security forces reportedly made contact with the bandits at Tunga Village during sustained offensive operations aimed at forcing the criminals out of their hideouts.

During the encounter, the bandits allegedly shot Mrs Abubakar before abandoning her and fleeing under pressure from the advancing troops.

Military sources said she was immediately evacuated to a military hospital, where she is receiving treatment and responding positively to medical care.

The Armed Forces of Nigeria said it is providing all necessary support to Mrs Abubakar and her family while efforts continue to ensure her full recovery.

The military also reaffirmed its determination to track down those responsible for the abduction and intensify operations against bandits and terrorists in Katsina State and other affected parts of the country.

Major General Rabe Abubakar reportedly died while in captivity, a development that had drawn widespread condemnation and renewed calls for stronger action against kidnapping and banditry.
