President Bola Tinubu has appointed Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo to lead the Directorate of Air Mobilization for his 2027 re-election campaign under the All Progressives Congress.
According to a statement issued by Keyamo’s media adviser, Tunde Moshood, the directorate will coordinate aviation-related travel arrangements and logistics for designated campaign personnel as the party prepares for activities across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
The statement named Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria managing director Olubunmi Kuku as Deputy Director I and Farouk Ahmed Umar as Deputy Director II.
The campaign organization said the appointments were intended to draw on aviation-sector experience in planning movements, scheduling travel and coordinating with other campaign units during a nationwide political exercise.
The directorate is expected to operate within applicable aviation safety regulations and electoral laws. Air transport is particularly significant to campaign operations involving multiple events in distant locations within short periods.
The appointments also raise an important governance distinction because those named hold public-sector responsibilities. Campaign operations and government functions must remain separate, with public assets and official authority used only in accordance with the law.
The statement did not provide details of the directorate’s proposed budget, funding arrangements or safeguards for separating campaign expenditure from government resources.
As preparations intensify for the 2027 election, transparency over how campaign logistics are financed and administered will remain an important measure of compliance and public confidence.
