President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has inaugurated the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), declaring that the ruling party is united and prepared to seek a fresh mandate from Nigerians in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, on Wednesday, Tinubu called on party leaders and council members to work with dedication, discipline, and unity while ensuring governance remains a priority.
The President thanked party members for their efforts during previous elections but stressed that success would only be measured by future electoral victories.
“No one gets credit for an incomplete assignment until you deliver the next election, until you deliver your electoral wards, until you deliver the votes,” he said.
Tinubu also referenced advice from Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, who urged him not to allow campaign activities to distract him from governance.
The President said his administration would continue implementing policies under the Renewed Hope Agenda while party structures intensify campaigns across the country.
“We have bills to pay. The American creditors cannot wait. We want those investors to come in and invest for the future of our children,” Tinubu stated.
He urged members of the campaign council to engage Nigerians responsibly and promote the achievements and programmes of his administration.
Tinubu also commended Vice President Kashim Shettima for what he described as an excellent and patriotic speech, while acknowledging the contributions of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat to development initiatives in Lagos.
Earlier, Shettima hailed Tinubu’s role in strengthening democracy and criticised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi over comments and positions on national issues.
The Vice President argued that political discourse should respect the office of the President and called for a more responsible approach to public debate as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
