Bola Ahmed Tinubu has endorsed Obafemi Hamzat as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the 2027 governorship election in Lagos State.
Hamzat, who currently serves as Deputy Governor of the state, disclosed the development on Monday, describing the endorsement as a significant vote of confidence in his leadership and capacity to govern.
“I am deeply grateful for the trust and confidence reposed in me. I am fully aware of the responsibility this endorsement carries,” he said.
The APC chieftain expressed readiness to build on the developmental strides recorded in Lagos, noting that the state remains a model for growth and innovation in Nigeria.

He also emphasised the need to sustain the legacy of progress established under successive administrations, including that of President Tinubu, who previously governed the state.
“Lagos is an ongoing project. There is still much work to be done as we continue to drive development and improve the lives of our people,” Hamzat added.
He further stated that his focus remains on mobilising support ahead of the election and ensuring the party secures victory while consolidating on existing achievements.
The endorsement is expected to shape the political landscape in Lagos as preparations gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
