Tinubu Embarks on Two-Week Diplomatic Tour of France, Kenya, Rwanda

President Bola Tinubu is set to depart Abuja today on a two-week official visit to France, Kenya, and Rwanda, as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s global partnerships and attract investment.

According to a statement by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, the President will begin the trip in France before proceeding to Nairobi, Kenya, where he will participate in the Africa-France Summit scheduled for next week.

The summit, co-chaired by Emmanuel Macron and William Ruto, will focus on key issues including energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, climate action, and reforms to the global financing system.

Tinubu’s participation in the summit, slated for May 11 to May 12, 2026, is expected to reinforce Nigeria’s commitment to fostering stronger ties with African countries and France. The event, themed “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth,” will bring together leaders to address economic transformation, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and technological advancement across the continent.

Following the Kenya engagement, the President will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, to attend the Africa CEO Forum from May 14 to 15. The forum, themed “Scale or Fail,” is regarded as one of the largest gatherings of African business leaders, investors, and policymakers, focusing on accelerating economic growth through regional integration and cross-border investments.

At both events, Tinubu is expected to outline his administration’s economic reforms aimed at positioning Nigeria as a leading investment destination. He will also hold bilateral meetings with global and African business leaders.

The President will be accompanied by senior government officials and is expected to return to Nigeria after concluding his engagements in Rwanda.
