Governor Charles Soludo has inaugurated newly appointed members of the Anambra State Executive Council following their confirmation by the Anambra State House of Assembly.
The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Light House in Awka, where the governor said the appointments were aimed at strengthening governance and accelerating development across the state.
The newly inaugurated commissioners include Ben Odoemena for Agriculture; Chukwukadibia Okoye for Budget and Economic Planning; Udoji Amedu for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism; Dr. Ekene Ogugua for Education; Dr. Clem Aguiyi for Environment; and Dr. Afam Obidike for Health.
Others are Dr. Law Mefor for Information and Value Reformation; Professor Offornze Amucheazi for Lands; Vin Ezeaka for Local Government and Community Affairs; Professor Charles Ofoegbu for Petroleum and Mineral Resources; and Chijioke Oseloka Ojukwu for Physical Planning and Urban Development.
Also sworn in were Engr. Casmir Agummadu as Commissioner for Power; Engr. Okey Ezeobi for Works and Infrastructure; Eddy Ibuzo for Transport; Esther Onyekesi for Women Affairs and Social Development; Patrick Agha for Youth Development and Sports; Arc. Henry Arinze for Housing; and Nonso Chukwuma Ebonwu for Commerce.
In addition, the governor inaugurated several heads of government agencies and institutions.
They include Emeka Okonkwo as Managing Director of the Anambra Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA); Ossy Onuko as Managing Director of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA); Fred Agbata as head of the Anambra State ICT Agency; and Obi Okonkwo as Managing Director of the Bureau of Public Procurement.
Addressing the appointees, Soludo reminded them that governance is fundamentally about service to the people and advancing the common good.
He urged them to carry out their responsibilities with diligence, integrity, innovation and commitment to the administration’s development agenda.
According to the governor, the officials were assuming office at a critical period in the state’s history and must work collectively toward achieving sustainable development, economic transformation and improved living standards for residents.
Soludo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building what he described as a livable and prosperous homeland anchored on responsible governance, social progress and economic growth.
