Soludo Says Support for Tinubu Could Strengthen Future Igbo Presidential Bid

Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has argued that supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election could help the South-east build alliances for a future Igbo presidency.

In a video circulated on social media, Soludo said the region should consider the political advantages of supporting the incumbent southern president before power eventually rotates to the North and later returns to the South.

He said political advancement required dialogue and reciprocal support across regions, and suggested that backing Tinubu could encourage other parts of the country to support an Igbo candidate in a later election.

Soludo also said the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), under which he was elected, would pursue cooperation that served Anambra’s interests. His remarks followed reports of his inclusion in a revised APC presidential campaign council.

APGA’s publicity secretary, Ejimofor Opera, defended the governor’s engagement with the federal government as a strategic partnership intended to benefit the state.

The position is likely to fuel debate over whether cross-party cooperation advances regional interests or blurs the distinctions between competing political platforms.
