Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has commended President Bola Tinubu for approving the reconstruction and dualisation of two major federal roads in Anambra State, describing the development as a significant boost to infrastructure and regional connectivity.
The projects include the 108-kilometre Otuocha–Anam–Abaji (Kogi) Road and the 150-kilometre Oba–Nnewi–Uga–Ihube (Okigwe Junction) Road, both approved for reconstruction and expansion by the Federal Government through the Ministry of Works.
According to the state government, the Otuocha–Anam–Abaji Road will significantly reduce travel time between Anambra State, Abuja and other parts of Northern Nigeria upon completion, while the Oba–Nnewi–Uga–Ihube Road will improve connectivity among Anambra, Imo, Enugu and Abia states, facilitating trade and movement across the Southeast.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page, Governor Soludo expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the approvals.
“History will be kind to you. Thank you,” the governor wrote.
Soludo disclosed that he met with President Tinubu on July 1, during which he appealed for increased federal infrastructure investment in Anambra State and the Southeast.
According to him, the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, contacted him the following day to request details of priority road projects after the meeting with the President.
“Early this month, precisely on July 1, I met the President and made a case for more infrastructure in Anambra State and the Southeast.
“The next day, I was contacted by the Minister for Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, who asked me for the details of the roads, which I sent to him. Then, by July 15, I received a message from the Minister that the President had approved both roads,” Soludo stated.
The governor described the approvals as further evidence of the Tinubu administration’s commitment to promoting national unity and addressing longstanding infrastructure deficits in the Southeast.
He noted that the projects reflect efforts by the Federal Government to foster inclusive development and strengthen integration across the country.
Soludo added that constructive engagement and collaboration with the Federal Government remain essential to delivering tangible development outcomes for the people.
“He is working collaboratively and building alliances to achieve concrete results that improve the lives of the people. That is why politics makes sense to me,” the governor said.
