Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has reiterated the commitment of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to addressing humanitarian challenges across the country.
Shettima made the remarks on Tuesday while receiving a delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Nigeria. The delegation was led by Dorsa Doueihy.
According to the Vice President, the federal government will intensify engagement with key stakeholders and development partners to improve the effectiveness of humanitarian interventions nationwide.
He noted that strengthening collaboration with organisations such as the ICRC remains critical to addressing gaps in humanitarian response efforts.
“It is only when we continue engaging with organisations like the Red Cross that we can address some of the grey areas in our humanitarian responses across the country,” Shettima said.
He further assured that the Tinubu administration would continue to build on existing partnerships to enhance relief efforts, particularly in areas affected by conflict, displacement, and other emergencies.
The visit underscores ongoing cooperation between Nigeria and international humanitarian organisations in tackling pressing social and humanitarian needs.
