NDLEA, Ghana’s NACOC Sign MoU to Tackle Drug Trafficking

Nigeria’s anti-narcotics agency, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) of Ghana to strengthen collaboration in the fight against drug trafficking and organised crime.

The agreement was formalised during a visit by NACOC Director-General, Maxwell Obuba Mantey, to Nigeria, where he led a delegation on a benchmarking and study tour of the NDLEA’s operational framework.

He was received by the Chairman/Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Mohammed Buba Marwa, who described the partnership as a significant step toward dismantling transnational drug cartels operating across West Africa.

The visit provided an opportunity for NACOC officials to study NDLEA’s strategies in intelligence gathering, enforcement, rehabilitation, and inter-agency cooperation, with a view to strengthening Ghana’s anti-drug operations.

Officials from both countries emphasised the need for enhanced regional cooperation, information sharing, and joint operations to effectively combat the growing threat of illicit drug trafficking.

The MoU is expected to deepen bilateral ties between Nigeria and Ghana in law enforcement and contribute to broader regional efforts to curb drug-related crimes across West Africa.
