Security: Adeleke Urges Osun Residents to Stay Alert, Report Threats

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements, individuals and activities in their communities to security agencies.

Adeleke’s appeal followed reports of alleged plans to attack places of worship in the state, particularly amid concerns over the possible movement of unfamiliar persons through border communities.

The governor, in a statement, called on residents to assist security agencies by providing timely intelligence on potential threats.

“We must provide the police and other security agencies with intelligence reports on noticeable threats in our communities. As we are aware of alleged plots to attack our places of worship, we must become extra vigilant. Report anything unusual without any delay,” Adeleke said.

He commended the Department of State Services (DSS) for what he described as proactive measures to counter the reported threats, while urging other security agencies to review the security situation and develop an effective response plan to protect lives and property.

Adeleke also disclosed that he would convene a meeting of the State Security Council to assess the situation and review the effectiveness of existing security measures.

“I will soon convene the State Security Council meeting to assess the situation and the workability of our response plans. As residents of this state, we must collaborate with the security agencies through information sharing,” he said.

The governor further cautioned residents to be mindful of individuals they accommodate in their communities and urged traditional rulers to convene meetings of their respective traditional councils to discuss the security concerns.

He called for collective action to prevent any attempt by criminals or terrorists to disrupt public peace in the state.

“Our administration is committed to post-election peace building and we must tighten state security to foil any attempt by terrorists and bandits to disrupt public peace,” Adeleke stated.

The governor urged residents to remain calm but vigilant, stressing that effective cooperation between communities and security agencies remained crucial to preventing threats and maintaining peace across Osun State.
