NUPRC: Nigeria’s Oil Production Rises to 1.68m Bpd in August

Nigeria’s crude oil and condensate production increased marginally by 6,887 barrels per day (bpd) in August 2026, rising to 1.677 million bpd, according to the Nigerian Upstream Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

The figure represents a 0.4 per cent increase from the 1.670 million bpd recorded in July.

The NUPRC attributed the modest improvement largely to the resolution of operational challenges involving the Single Buoy Mooring at the Erha oil field.

Excluding condensates, Nigeria produced an average of 1.500 million bpd of crude oil in August, enabling the country to meet its Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) quota for the fourth consecutive month.

Daily combined crude oil and condensate production fluctuated between a low of 1.64 million bpd and a high of 1.71 million bpd during the month.

Bonny Terminal emerged as the largest contributor, recording an average daily production of 320,040 barrels.

Forcados Terminal followed with 317,400 bpd, while Qua Iboe Terminal contributed 171,720 bpd.

Escravos Oil Terminal recorded 131,710 bpd, while Bonga ranked fifth with an average output of 92,500 bpd.

The NUPRC said the restoration of normal evacuation and production operations at the Erha field contributed significantly to the improvement in August output.

It added that production activities at most other assets remained relatively stable, with operators continuing efforts to improve efficiency, maintain asset integrity and minimise operational disruptions.

Although the increase was modest, the commission said the development reflected ongoing efforts to address operational bottlenecks and restore affected production capacity.

It added that stakeholders remained focused on improving asset reliability and operational resilience to support sustained growth in crude oil production.
