Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has urged members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kwara State to put aside internal divisions and operate as a single political organization ahead of the 2027 elections.
Saraki made the appeal while receiving Kwara Central Senator Saliu Mustapha and Kwara North senatorial candidate Baba Giya Kolo at his residence in Ilorin.
Mustapha recently left the All Progressives Congress for the PDP.
Saraki welcomed him and his supporters and described the move as part of a wider effort to rebuild the party in Kwara.
He told members that previous internal groupings should no longer define the organization.
Saraki said party members across wards and local governments needed to accommodate one another.
He also stressed the importance of power sharing and inclusive governance.
The former Senate President urged candidates to recognize the sacrifices made by supporters and ensure that development benefits were distributed broadly if the party won power.
Mustapha thanked the PDP leadership and members for the reception.
He said he was ready to work with the party to challenge the APC government in the state.
His criticism of the current Kwara administration was expressed in strongly partisan terms and should be understood as a political claim.
The meeting reflects ongoing realignment in Kwara politics following defections from the ruling party.
PDP leaders are now seeking to convert those movements into a more unified statewide campaign structure ahead of 2027.
