Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has unveiled a book titled “Sanwo-Olu, Against All Odds, A Photo Story of Resilience in the Face of Adversity,” documenting key moments of his administration since taking office.

Authored by his Executive Assistant and official photographer, Ademola Olaniran, the book captures milestones from Sanwo-Olu’s first term through the early years of his second, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the EndSARS protests, infrastructure development, economic reforms and social interventions.

At the unveiling in Lagos, attended by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, represented by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, along with Governors Hope Uzodinma of Imo and Babagana Zulum of Borno and other dignitaries, Sanwo-Olu said the book was unusual in documenting an administration still in office, describing its true subject as Lagos itself, from market traders to nurses, students and engineers whose lives intersect with the city’s development.

Reflecting on challenges including the pandemic, the EndSARS protests, the Abule Ado explosion and building collapses, Sanwo-Olu said Lagos never stopped building despite facing crises that could have defined an entire tenure on their own. He highlighted the completion of the Blue and Red rail lines, the start of operations at the Lekki Deep Sea Port, and investments in housing, healthcare, education and food security as key achievements, describing continuity in governance as the secret behind Lagos’ success and crediting predecessors including President Bola Tinubu and former Governors Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode as key architects of the city’s progress.

Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat described the book as more than a publication, calling it a celebration of leadership and the power of documentation in preserving history, while author Ademola Olaniran said his role was to faithfully record events as they unfolded rather than shape a narrative, describing the project as a testimony to leadership under difficult circumstances.
