Paris Saint-Germain secured a dramatic 5–4 victory over Bayern Munich in a pulsating UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg clash at the Parc des Princes.
In a match packed with intensity and attacking brilliance, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Ousmane Dembele each scored twice to give the French champions a slender advantage ahead of the return leg.
Bayern struck first in the 17th minute, with Harry Kane converting from the penalty spot to register his 54th goal of the season. However, PSG responded swiftly, as Kvaratskhelia curled in a stunning equaliser before Joao Neves headed the hosts in front from a corner.
The German side fought back before halftime, with Michael Olise producing a brilliant solo effort. But PSG regained their lead just before the break when Dembele converted a penalty following a VAR review for handball.
The second half maintained the same frenetic pace, with Kvaratskhelia and Dembele both completing their braces to extend PSG’s lead to 5–2 within the hour mark. Bayern refused to back down, as Dayot Upamecano headed home before Luis Diaz added a fourth goal to set up a tense finish.
Despite late pressure from the visitors, including a near miss from Senny Mayulu, PSG held on to claim a narrow win in what will be remembered as one of the most thrilling semi-final encounters in recent Champions League history.
Both sides are set to meet again in the decisive second leg at the Allianz Arena on May 6, where a place in the final will be at stake.
