Makinde Hosts Peter Obi in Ibadan, Discusses Coalition, National Issues

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Tuesday received former presidential candidate Peter Obi and his delegation in Ibadan, in what both leaders described as a strategic meeting on national development and opposition collaboration.

The meeting, held in the Oyo State capital, provided an avenue for both political figures to deliberate on the evolving coalition among opposition leaders, as well as broader issues affecting Nigeria’s political and economic landscape.

Makinde, who described Obi as a “brother,” said the visit underscored the importance of dialogue and partnership among like-minded leaders seeking solutions to the country’s challenges.

According to him, discussions centred on strengthening cooperation within the opposition space and exploring practical pathways to address pressing national concerns.

While details of the meeting were not fully disclosed, it is understood that the talks form part of ongoing consultations among key political stakeholders ahead of future electoral cycles.

Obi’s visit to Ibadan is seen by observers as a significant development in the emerging political realignments, as opposition figures continue to engage in efforts aimed at building a formidable coalition.

Both leaders emphasised the need for unity, constructive engagement, and a shared vision for Nigeria’s progress.
