Prince Harry and Meghan to Stay at Royal Residence During First UK Family Visit in Four Years

London — Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have accepted an invitation from King Charles III to stay at a royal residence during their upcoming visit to the United Kingdom, marking a significant step that could signal improving relations within the royal family.

The couple will travel to Britain next month with their two children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, for their first family visit to the UK in four years.

The trip will be the first time the Sussexes have accepted the King’s longstanding offer of accommodation on a royal estate. Palace sources indicate the family will divide their stay between a royal residence and private accommodation during the visit.

The development has fueled speculation that the years-long rift between Prince Harry and the royal family may be easing.

First Family Visit Since 2022

Prince Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior working royals in 2020 before relocating to California, where they sought what they described as a more financially independent life.

Their departure triggered a highly publicized fallout with the monarchy. In subsequent interviews, documentaries and Harry’s memoir, the couple cited relentless tabloid scrutiny, difficult family relationships and concerns about racism within British institutions as key reasons for leaving royal life.

While Harry has made several solo trips to Britain in recent years, Meghan has not returned since attending the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022. Harry also travelled alone for the coronation of King Charles III in 2023.

Their children have not visited the UK together with both parents since the Platinum Jubilee celebrations for Queen Elizabeth II in 2022.

Signs of Reconciliation

Relations between Harry and his father have shown signs of improvement over the past year.

The Duke reunited privately with King Charles in September after nearly two years without a face-to-face meeting. The meeting took place while the King was undergoing cancer treatment and sparked renewed speculation that both sides were working to repair their relationship.

Reports suggest father and son have remained in contact since then, although Harry is still believed to have limited contact with his elder brother, Prince William.

Security Concerns Remain

Security has long been a major issue surrounding the Sussex family’s visits to Britain.

After the UK government withdrew Prince Harry’s taxpayer-funded police protection following his departure from royal duties, the Duke expressed concerns about bringing Meghan and their children back to the country.

Last year, he told the BBC that he could not envision returning to the UK with his family under the existing security arrangements.

Details of the security plan for the upcoming visit have not been disclosed, though the family will benefit from established protection while staying at a royal residence.

Invictus Games Events

The visit will coincide with celebrations marking one year until the 2027 Invictus Games, which will be held in Birmingham. Prince Harry founded the international sporting event for wounded, injured and sick military personnel more than a decade ago.

The Duke will begin the visit by attending Invictus-related engagements in London, with Meghan expected to accompany him at several public events.

Harry will also undertake additional engagements in the Midlands in support of charitable causes he champions.

Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are not expected to participate in any public appearances, and the family has chosen to keep details of their private activities during the visit confidential.
